Horus Range
The HORUS Surveillance System is a rugged, low cost, stabilised, day/night optical tracker and video recording system. HORUS combines the very latest in advanced commercial off-theshelf technology mated to specialist engineering techniques. By coupling the most advanced electronics and optics on the market to the technology used in the Surveying, Space and Movie-making industries, HORUS is the perfect tool for:

The ethos behind HORUS is that it is designed for the smaller aircraft. The host aircraft normally has a pre-defined survey/search area and has a limited time onstation prior to returning to base. Therefore any item of interest noted during the flight would be reported via radio and the evidence can be filmed and recorded for later playback on return to base. The recording can include the time and position of the aircraft at the time of filming. The recording is typically viewed within only an hour or two of it being recorded, allowing relatively swift action to be taken if necessary. ( An optional digital data downlink is available.)
The system has both search and spotter cameras, coupled to a Thermal Imager.
- The search camera has automatic day/night function of the smooth digitally-stabilised 26x zoom camera system utilising the infra-red spectrum for low-light/low visibility situations.
- The high resolution spotter camera has a special narrow field of view telephoto lens for identification purposes.
- The optical tracker allows the cameras to lock on to and follow the target.
- A high performance, precision mounting allows for fast, accurate and smooth movement.
- High resolution direct recording onto DVD allows for flexibility on playback. The use of quality components, advanced optical know-how and industrial motion control expertise has enabled the manufacture of a highly reliable and simple system that offers low cost of ownership, high flexibility and reduced training requirements.

Please note that this is a ruggedised, commercially based, surveillance aid -specifically designed for airborne survey and border security surveillance and control. In order to meet strict export licensing control requirements, this system has been purposely designed as a passive device, without the ability to be used to transmit range and bearing information of tracked objects, or target information for the control of weapon systems.
